Commercial Relations Director

Peter Lee serves as Commercial Director and is responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that Metsims Sustainability Consulting achieves the greatest possible impact, and maintaining its position as a science- and evidence-based consultancy.

He has extensive experience working with public- and private-sector organisations, as well as professional and industry associations, across a wide range of topics related to the circular economy and carbon reduction.

Peter has more than 25 years of experience in developing and implementing waste minimisation strategies through the application of lean manufacturing techniques in industrial environments. He has managed and contributed to projects covering resource efficiency, sustainability, carbon footprint and energy consumption reduction, recycling technologies, logistics and reverse supply chains, packaging and waste management in the food and beverage sector, and waste prevention.

His work on supply chain optimisation projects demonstrates his expertise in applying lean manufacturing principles within the food and beverage industry. He has also authored reports for the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) on the application of lean manufacturing techniques in the food, beverage, and hospitality sectors, as well as on the European Commission’s Best Environmental Management Practices for the food and beverage industry.

Peter has undertaken studies on lightweighting glass packaging, cullet exports, and the economics of glass packaging production. He has also advised European packaging and waste management industries on deposit return schemes.

Peter holds a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Systems and a PhD focusing on the effects of liquids on sliding metal surfaces.
