The first-ever EPD for GRP pipes is published under the consultancy of Metsims
SUPERLIT PIPELINES, one of the world’s leading manufacturers in the pipe industry with an experience of more than half a century, is now one step ahead in its sector thanks to brand new EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) prepared by referring to EN 15804:2012 +A2:2019 standard for its Glassfibre Reinforced Polyester (GRP) pipes. This also happens to be the first EPD published for this product type and is expected to help the stakeholders throughout their sustainable procurement processes.
The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study was carried out under the consultancy of Metsims Sustainability Consulting in accordance with EN 14025 and ISO 14040/44 standards and environmental performance of the GRP pipes were disclosed in an internationally accepted format. The EPD including corporate information, product description and specification has been prepared by reflecting the corporate identity, and was published simultaneously through EPDTurkey -Turkey’s first and only EPD system for local and international markets- and International EPD System (IES).
The issue of digitalization, which is developing rapidly in Europe, has become a necessity for EPD documents, too. Digital EPD is created by publishing the data obtained from the published EPD documents in databases in an international format that can be used by the software. The digital version of the SUPERLIT EPD document will also be prepared by Metsims Sustainability Consulting and published in “Environmental Performance Hub for Global Construction Products” databases. Thus, SUPERLIT PIPELINES will have the opportunity to announce the environmental performance of its products all over the world.
